Where was the movie, "Love in the Maldives" filmed?
Most Hallmark movies are filmed in Canada, not this one though! "Love in the Maldives" was filmed on Rangali Island, which is actually one of the many islands that make up the Maldives.
My thoughts
I wanted to like this movie, I really did but I just couldn't get into it.
The plot was boring and overused. I mean, how many movies are they going to make about a travel writer sent to a location only for her boss to change the assignment at the last minute which then compromises the integrity of the writer. It's time for something more original.
I felt like the acting was flat and even though our main characters are a real-life married couple, I didn't think the chemistry was all that great. They came across to me as having more best friend vibes.
The male lead, Jared, had such a terrible blonde dye job. It was as though I was watching a member of a 90's boy band try to act.
I really wish Hallmark would stop trying to have a contrived conflict in every single movie.
While the story and acting left me disappointed, the scenery did not! The location was absolutely stunning!
The resort where this movie was filmed is called The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort and it looked just gorgeous on screen.
I especially loved the underwater bedroom and the underwater restaurant.
Aside from the location, I enjoyed the storyline of the older female widow and the friendship she forges with Rae.
Final rating
Although visually stunning, a setting in the Maldives couldn't save the stilted acting or used up storyline. I definitely won't be watching "Love in the Maldives" again.
On a scale of 1 to 4, I give it a 1.5
