My thoughts
As many of you may know, Danica McKeller has been a staple in Hallmark Channel movies for years. "The Winter Palace" is her first film for Great American Family, and I loved it!
The story isn't anything unique but I loved the pairing of Danica, who plays struggling writer Emily, and Neal Bledsoe, who plays Prince Henry.
They have great chemistry together and I enjoyed Henry's character arc of stuffy, no-nonsense Prince who feels obligated to take the throne to relaxed, carefree man who finally knows what he wants out of life.
Prince Henry takes a real interest in Emily's new novel and the scene where they throw snowballs back and forth to help with her writer's block was so fun!
They also have a fabulous, tension filled almost kiss that is interrupted by the King.
Loved, loved, loved the ending where Henry spots Emily at the back of the church and rushes excitedly over to explain he's not going to be king and that he won't be getting engaged to another woman.
He was speaking a mile a minute and the look on his face was so genuine!
Most memorable line!
"While it is tempting for us to grieve as one chapter ends, we must also celebrate as another begins."
Final rating
I really enjoyed this film. It was fun, lighthearted, and enjoyed the two lead actors together. I would happily see "The Winter Palace" over and over again!
On a scale of 1 to 5 I give it a 4.
