My thoughts
The plot of "A Summer Romance" is nothing new or exciting. We all know how it will end, even so, it was a fun watch.
I'm normally a big fan of both Erin Krakow and Ryan Paevey, so I was curious to see if I would like them together as a couple.
While I was ok with their pairing, I can't say I was blown away by their chemistry.
The character of Sam, played by Krakow, was incredibly stand-offish and stoic for the majority of the movie.
Constantly picking on JR, played by Paevey, for not knowing anything about country life and being a "city slicker" got old quick.
The character of JR however, I really enjoyed!
Aside from looking incredibly handsome in a cowboy hat, he had great character development.
His arc of "city boy" to nature loving ranch hand was believable and enjoyable to watch.
There were certainly some fun scenes, like the montage of JR trying on different cowboy outfits or their time at the carnival.
The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and I found myself wishing I could take a trip to the mountains.
I really enjoyed the ending of "A Summer Romance" and think it may have been the most romantic part of the movie.
Most memorable line
"Not sure I can trust a man without a nickname."
Final rating
The plot is a tale as old as time, but the actors all put in solid performances, the scenery was just beautiful, and it did a great job entertaining me for 2 hours. I'd definitely watch "A Summer Romance" again.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 3.5
