In the movie "Crown for Christmas", a struggling New York City maid gets hired to be a royal nanny. While there, she'll grow close with her new charge, and the king.

Plot summary and other info
"After getting fired from her job as a maid at a ritzy New York City hotel, Allie reluctantly accepts a temp gig as the governess to a young girl who is part of a powerful family in Europe that lives in an actual castle. After arriving, Allie learns the girl is named Princess Theodora and her father is Maximillian, the King of Winshire. The King informs Allie that the Princess has a tendency to terrorize authority figures, a predilection that has grown worse since her mother’s death. Yet governess and Princess wind up hitting it off while at the same time a spark forms between Allie and Max. However, Countess Celia is expecting to wed the King. Will Max take a stand for his feelings for Allie and make it truly a merry Christmas for all (or at least, most)?"
Released in 2015 as a part of Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas programming, "Crown for Christmas" was filmed in Romania and Slovenia.
The film stars Danica McKellar, Rupert Penry-Jones, and Ellie Botterill.
My thoughts
"Crown for Christmas" seems to be one of Hallmark Channel's staple Christmas movies, they play it multiple times a season.
Does this mean that it's one of the best movies in Hallmark's Christmas collection? Definitely not!
Like all royal movies, you'll need to suspend a fair share of reality to make it through this one.
While the movie is filled with cringey lines, there are a few gems sprinkle in there too.
Ali, played by Danica McKellar, is optimistic, opinionated, and my favorite parts of the movie were her interactions with Princess Theodora.
They formed a fast, yet believable bond and the actress playing the princess was a breath of fresh air.
I loved all her little pranks and and just general brattiness!
While I enjoy Rupert Penry-Jones, who plays King Maximillian, I can't say that I bought the chemistry between he and Danica McKellar. I felt like their interactions and dialogue were a bit thin, which made the ending a bit unbelievable for me.
The castle and grounds were quite pretty and I found myself chuckling at Ali's parenting advice.
Most cringe worthy line
"You know, you can only see so much from the back of a limo, but you can see everything from the seat of a horse."
Funniest line
"Good parenting lies somewhere between "Don't do that" and "What the heck.""
Final rating
While, "Crown for Christmas" certainly isn't one of the best royal Christmas movies, it's enjoyable enough that I don't change the channel everytime it comes on.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 2
