Released in 2019 as part of Hallmark Channel's Winterfest programming, "Winter Love Story" was filmed in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, and stars Jen Lilley and Kevin McGarry.

My thoughts
Jen Lilley stars as Cassie Winslett, a barista/first-time author whose book about what she did to get over a recent break-up isn't selling. Her publishing team decides to send her on a book tour with established, bestselling fantasy author Elliot Somersby to help promote her book.
While on the tour, they grow close and he admits to having writers block and she admits her fears of not being as good as her mother, who's an award-winning author.
As the movie progresses, we see Cassie help Elliot overcome his writer's block, and we see Elliot help Cassie get over her stage fright.
Kevin McGarry is so likeable and plays Elliot with loads of charm. He and Jen Lilley have great chemistry and there's lots of entertaining, witty banter.
I wish I could say I enjoyed the character of Cassie, but she's painfully insecure, petty, and immature.
She doesn't want to be Elliot's "opening act" on the book tour, she complains about getting a smaller room than his while staying at a bed and breakfast, she needs her book to sell but doesn't want to promote it because she's shy in front of crowds.
All that aside, "Winter Love Story" was entertaining and there were many moments I enjoyed watching! The dialogue between the two main characters was funny and had me laughing out loud a few times. Elliot's dog, Bungee, was adorable! The hot cocoa scene was cute, along with the scene of Bungee dragging Cassie through the park after seeing a squirrel.
I thought Kevin McGarry really carried the movie and I enjoyed the movie as much as I did because of him.
Final rating
There's beautiful scenery with snow everywhere, an adorable dog, a handsome leading man, and probably the best witty banter in any Hallmark movie so far. If you can get over the flaws of the female lead, the movie is enjoyable and worth additional viewings.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 3.5
