    It Was Always You

While home for her future mother-in-laws birthday, a woman is reminded of the dreams she once had and begins to question if her fiance and the life they have planned is truly right for her.

    Plot and other info!

"Elizabeth's engagement plans are thrown into disarray when her fiancé's free-spirited brother David returns home. David's unexpected influence prompts Elizabeth to question her life decisions."

Released in 2021 as part of Hallmark Channel's Love Ever After programming, "It Was Always You" stars Hallmark Channel favorites Erin Krakow and Tyler Hynes. The movie was filmed in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

    My thoughts

Can you go wrong with favorite Hallmark actors Erin Krakow and Tyler Hynes? The answer is no!

These two have chemistry galore and play off each other well!

Erin Krakow plays Elizabeth, a dentist who had big dreams of traveling the world when she was younger. Her life however, took a slight detour and she somehow became engaged to her childhood friend and business partner, George. Who happens to be the most boring man on the planet (more on him later).

Tyler Hynes plays David (and George's brother), a free spirited world traveler who has finally decided to grace his family with his presence to celebrate his mothers birthday.

While there were things I didn't like about "It Was Always You", there were quite a few things that I loved.

Let's start with the things that missed the mark for me.

A woman in a black dress stares off into the distance while at a party.

The character of George was such a stick in the mud and honestly was so stiff that it came off as unbelievable.

There's a scene where David has the music blaring at 2am because he's still on "Tibetan time". The scene made David seem selfish and for me, unlikeable.

The biggest issue I had with the movie though, was the fact that David and Elizabeth start falling in love even though she's engaged to his brother. I find it a little icky.

Now, for the things I loved!

The views of the island, the house in the film, the treehouse...all of the scenery was just beautiful!

The banter between Elizabeth and David was incredibly enjoyable! I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times!

Loved the scene where Elizabeth and David run into each other in the ice cream shop and she begins recapping all the annoying things he did as a child. It helped solidify just how much history these two have with one another.

David's grandmother was a joy to watch and all of her scenes were so sweet and endearing.

I enjoyed Elizabeth's character arc. She goes from being an uptight perfectionist who's playing it safe, to remembering and going after the dreams she had while growing up.

For me, the ending was absolute perfection! I actually don't think there's been a Hallmark movie ending I've loved more!

    Most memorable line!

"Sometimes people around you aren't going to understand your journey. That's ok, they don't need to. It's not for them. Maybe nobody's told you this before, but it's ok for you to chase your own happiness."

    Final Thoughts

Overall, I loved this film! The chemistry and banter between the two leads was spot on and completely believable. I would happily watch "It Was Always You" over and over again!

    On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 4
