My thoughts
Sarah Bloom, played by Jill Wagner, is a wedding planner in New York City who has a career making opportunity when she's hired to plan the wedding event of the season. There's just one small catch; the groom is the brother of Sarah's ex-boyfriend and the wedding will be held on the family farm.
Victor Webster stars as David Nichols, the groom's brother who is currently running the family farm. He's shocked to learn that his little brother has decided to host his wedding on the farm in the middle of harvest season. He's also surprised to learn that his ex-girlfriend is planning it all.
Sarah seems to be juggling quite a lot throughout the film. The bride is wanting a small, unassuming wedding while her mother wants a fancy, over the top affair and is unhappy with the farm location. Sarah spends her time trying to make both women happy while also convincing David to tidy up his working farm. There's also a journalist following her around for an article. Oh, and she has just two weeks before the wedding.
Overall, there's nothing unique about the plot, but Jill Wagner and Victor Webster play their parts so well! They both bring a real authenticity to their rolls and play their parts with maturity. There's no silly misunderstandings or childish giggling.
The dialogue in "A Harvest Wedding" is better than most Hallmark movies, and the banter between Sarah and David was enjoyable.
They have great chemistry and we get plenty of lingering looks without it feeling forced.
There's plenty of fall decor everywhere but it's done tastefully and I appreciated the mix of fake foliage with what looks like some real trees.
What I really appreciated about the movie was the ending. Typically in Hallmark movies the big city female lead moves back home or gives up her career aspirations for the guy. In this movie, David follows her to the city. Loved it!
Final Rating
"A Harvest Wedding" is a slow, visually beautiful movie with good dialogue and believable acting. I loved Jill Wagner and Victor Webster together, I would happily watch this movie again and again.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 4
