My thoughts
As a former special education teacher, I was really excited to see "Color My World with Love"! I found the movie to be an inspiring love story with lots of character growth, especially for the character of Emma!
It's a pretty heavy movie dealing with important topics. The pace of the movie was fairly slow but I felt like it worked.
The actors portraying Kendall and Brad were wonderful and I found myself rooting for them throughout the movie.
I loved the interactions between Kendall and her mother Emma. I could relate to so many of Emma's fears for her daughter.
Unfortunately I just wasn't a fan of Emma and Ben as a couple. In many of their scenes Emma acted as though this was her first ever interaction with a man. She was awkward, giddy, and I found myself having a bit of second hand embarrassment watching them together.
That being said, there were so many heartwarming conversations between all of the characters but my favorite was hands down the convo between Nick and Brad in front of the claw machine where they discussed love.
I also really liked the scene where Kendall and her mom Emma were in the bridal shop trying on wedding dresses. In the scene, the salesperson was rude and nasty to Kendall, but instead of getting upset, Kendall responded with compassion and forgiveness. May we all show such grace when confronted with an unpleasant person!
The grandmother's line about getting "the 25% rudeness discount" was priceless!
Emma putting her personal feelings aside and reaching out to her ex-husband to invite him to Kendall's wedding was also a highlight for me.
My favorite part of the movie
Hands down my favorite part of the movie was reading all of the different t-shirts Brad wears! Here are some of the sayings on them;
- The homie with the extra chromie.
- Guess what chicken butt?
- Shredding for the wedding!
and my absolute favorite
- I can't hear haters! (Which had a picture of Vincent Van Gogh below it! Hysterical!!)
Biggest ouch comment!
"It's rare to see a woman of your age hold on to that vitality!"
This line was said to Emma by her younger female boss.
Final rating!
Overall I really liked the movie and felt like it was well done. I'm glad I saw it but don't see myself watching this one over and and over again.
On a scale of 1 to 5 I give this one a 3.5
