Plot and other info!
"As Elizabeth tries to keep her late husband's once acclaimed restaurant afloat, she's forced to work with a consultant to turn things around. He reignites her passion for baking and life itself."
Released in 2022, the movie was filmed in Vancouver, Canada and stars Autumn Reeser, Tyler Hynes, and Patty McCormack. Super star chef Giada De Laurentiis executive produced the movie.
My thoughts
I found the story to be both sad and heartwarming. I could relate to Autumn Reeser's character Elizabeth who is trying her best to juggle it all and do right by those that depend on her.
The pace of this movie is slow, which I loved.
The movie deals with a heavy topic and handles it well. Elizabeth and Ben have serious conversations about loss and love and they were completely believable.
Autumn Reeser and Tyler Hynes really did a great job with their acting and I thought the writing was wonderful.
Towards the beginning of the movie Elizabeth is hesitant to work with a consultant because she doesn't want her late husband's legacy to be disturbed in any way.
I appreciated how patient Ben was with her when it came to making changes to the restaurant.
Elizabeth's mother-in-law, Nonna, was so welcoming to Ben which I also really liked!
I absolutely loved the scene where Elizabeth plays scopa, an Italian card game that I'm not even going to pretend to understand, with the olive oil mafia! It was such a fun scene in an otherwise serious film.
At the end of the film Elizabeth and the restaurant's chef, Antonio enter a cooking competition in the hopes of winning the grand prize so they can keep the restaurant open.
It would have been so easy for the writers to have them win and wrap up the movie with a little bow, I'm so glad they didn't! You'll have to watch to find out what happens!
Recipe for the movie!
The food in "Always Amore" looked absolutely amazing and I spent the majority of the film salivating!
If the movie sparks some Italian food cravings for you too then I highly suggest making these Italian Braised Chicken Thighs!
Most memorable line!
" Sometimes change makes things better."
This line was said by Nonna while talking to Elizabeth.
Final Rating
This movie was just delightful! The writing was beautiful and the acting spot on. This is one that I would gladly watch again.
On a scale of 1 to 5 I give it a 4.5
